FIXbend collaborates with Petco Love on a free pet immunization event.

(KTVZ) – BEND, Ore. – By sponsoring a free pet immunization event on Saturday, FIXbend is collaborating with the national organization Petco Love to provide pets the greatest chance for a healthy life.

Petco Love designated March as "National Pet Vaccination Month" to encourage pet parents to keep their pets' immunizations up to date, and will provide free pet vaccines to FIXbend for family dogs in need. As puppy and kitten season approaches, pet exposure to dangerous and fatal illnesses such as parvovirus, distemper, and panleukopenia rises but is easily avoidable with a simple vaccine.

Through this endeavor, FIXbend hopes to vaccinate 500 pets. The free immunization event will be held at Companion Pet Clinic Bend, 3197 North Highway 97, Unit A-1, in Bend on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is required. The DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccinations will be offered as part of the Petco Love project. Other vaccinations and microchips will be inexpensive.

"Thanks to Petco Love, we can provide these critical immunizations to pet owners at no cost," said Amanda Wheeler, Executive Director of The Rawley Project. "We encourage community members to use this free resource to assist limit disease transmission and protect the health and welfare of our community's pets."

The Give Pets Their Best Shot project makes critical pet vaccinations available to pet parents who may be facing financial difficulties, ensuring that cost is not an impediment to protecting pets from avoidable illnesses.

"Treatment for these terrible diseases can be too expensive for many pet parents," said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut. "We can assist these creatures to have a healthy life by delivering free immunizations to those in need." National Pet Vaccination Month is an extension of Petco Love's 1 million free pet vaccine initiative, which has benefited 400,000 pets so far. Fifty percent of pet parents who took part in the poll said their pets had never been vaccinated against these illnesses. Petco Love's mission this month is to raise awareness and speed vaccine delivery with the help of the Bissell Pet Foundation.
