Pet Supplies Plus Signs Franchise Agreement for 20 New Stores
US Retail Holdings, the retail company founded by Aaron Young, Chad Bush, and Doug DeLozier, has agreed to add 20 Pet Supplies Plus locations to its portfolio over the next five years. Currently, the firm owns and operates 49 Pet Supplies Plus locations in Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Texas.
The majority of the new locations will be located in Tennessee and Texas, with the 50th outlet debuting this summer. According to business executives, the group's stores employ almost 800 team members, including local and district managers who assist sustain the neighborhood feel that feeds the brand's reputation in communities across.
"We are the biggest independently owned and managed pet shop network because our franchisees understand the potential of combining local retail with best-in-class infrastructures and home office support," stated Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus. "We are thrilled that our major franchise partners continue to see the value that our shops offer to their portfolio, but more significantly, to the communities they serve."
DeLozier has been with Pet Supplies Plus for over two decades. After nearly 12 years as a Kroger retail store manager who was transferred throughout the country to boost store performance, he was inevitably bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. He was lured to Pet Supplies Plus as a pet enthusiast because of its grocery-style structure of meals, supplies, and specialized services for all varieties of furry, scaly, and feathered pals, including live fish and tiny pets (no dog or cat).
"Every year, our trust in the brand and the pet market as a whole rises," DeLozier added. "We like employing team members and watching them advance in their careers alongside us because we love what we do." We'll keep expanding our store count as long as we're still providing excellent service to our team members and communities—and having fun while doing it."
After working for a Pet Supplies Plus franchise, he bought his first two stores in 2002 and then teamed with Young and Bush. According to authorities, he and his business partners eventually began to construct an infrastructure that allowed them to grow, with the joint objective of offering the greatest quality products and services across all of their outlets.
"We've always been drawn to the high-volume, low-margin, and recurring sales that come with being a trustworthy, local grocery store for the expanding number of pet parents," DeLozier explained. "With more investment and innovations in technology, marketing, and merchandising assistance, Pet Supplies Plus has expanded dramatically." We are now a nationwide brand that has purposefully retained its small neighborhood flavor."
